Highlights from 2007:
Petersburg, VA 2007 - "Some of the best competition
you'll see all year....and that includes the nationals." That
was a quote from the manager of a participating team in the 2007 Beast of the
East. At every level of competition, there were tough teams ready to make
a run at the championship.
ABS/Easton proved to be the best team in the tournament with a run through the
Platinum playoffs and a Finals victory over Sons of The Legion.
In the Gold Division, Shorb's/Trivent Financial/DM Painting went undefeated in
the playoffs to take the hardware. They beat 4U/Absolute Bail Bonds of
Chesapeake, Virginia in the Gold Championship. It was the Richmond
East Moose team from Mechanicsville that made a run through the Silver division
taking down the defending champions Diamondbacks of Thurmont,
Maryland.
The only snag of the weekend came at the very end. Octane and RTD were in
the 3rd inning of the "if" game of the Bronze championship when a
thunderstorm rolled through and put a stop to everything. Both teams were
declared co-champions and will share in the prizes as well as the travel fund.
All in all, it was a great tournament and a great weekend for
softball. In addition to some pretty hot temperatures all weekend,
we also saw two thunderstorms rumble through along with a fog bank that caused
some minor delays. You'll find some stats and final standings on
each page for each division. Click there to go to your respective
division. We'll add some pictures later.
